Terms of Service
Effective: August 5, 2026
By downloading or using UmmahAlert ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. The service
UmmahAlert is a hijri calendar and event-reminder app. It shows Islamic dates and events computed from the Umm al-Qura calendar, with authentic hadiths and their sources. The App is free to use; a Premium subscription adds earlier reminders (J-7, J-3, J-1) and convenience features. Hadiths and religious content are always free.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse-engineer the App.
3. Subscriptions & billing
- Premium is an auto-renewable subscription billed through your App Store (Apple) or Google Play account.
- Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase, and renews automatically at each billing period until cancelled.
- You can manage or cancel anytime in your device settings: iPhone/iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Android: Google Play → Subscriptions.
- If you cancel, you keep Premium until the end of the current billing period; it will not renew.
- Refunds are handled exclusively by Apple or Google according to their policies. UmmahAlert cannot issue refunds.
- We may change Premium pricing; the new price applies only to the next billing period and is always communicated by the store before renewal.
4. No accounts — your data is local
The App requires no account. All data (settings, preferences, calendar) is stored locally on your device. Deleting the App removes all data. Because we hold no user data on any server, there is nothing for you to delete on our side.
5. Calendar accuracy
Hijri dates are computed (tabular Umm al-Qura) and may differ from official moon-sighting announcements in some regions. The in-app moon confirmation feature lets you adjust a month based on a confirmed sighting. We do our best for accuracy but do not guarantee that dates match every local authority.
6. Religious content
Hadith texts and Quranic verses are presented with their sources. Translations are provided for convenience and education; where accuracy matters, always refer to the original Arabic and a qualified scholar. UmmahAlert is not a substitute for religious guidance.
7. Intellectual property
The App's design, code, and original content are the property of UmmahAlert. Quranic verses and hadith texts are public-domain religious texts; their translations may be subject to their respective publishers' rights.
8. Disclaimer & limitation of liability
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, UmmahAlert shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use the App, including missed reminders or calendar inaccuracies.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
